VMware ESXi is a hypervisor that is installed on to a physical server to run virtual machines including servers and VDI desktops. This article goes through the steps to installing ESXi 6.0 Update 2 on to a server.
Boot the machine from the VMware ESXi 6.0 Update 2 installation media.
Wait for the countdown to reach zero or press Enter to continue with the install.
Press F11 to accept the EULA.
Select the local storage volume to install ESXi on to. The storage can be a local hard disk, USB memory stick or an SD card. Once selected press Enter to continue.
Select the keyboard layout from the list and press Enter.
Enter the password for the root account and press Enter.
Press F11 to begin the installation process.
Press Enter to reboot the server.
ESXi has been successfully installed and ready to be configured.
